The micro worlds in my children’s book illustrations are constructed in small theaters. My people characters, roughly seven inches tall, are built on moveable armatures with exchangeable heads, feet/shoes, and hands, and clothing sewn on the form. I often build animal characters similarly, usually minus the clothing, with fabric- or wool-wrapped armatures.
